FMX: Mat Rebeaud has Serious Crash

Crash and Surgery

Swiss FMX superstar Mat Rebeaud will miss the first stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010 following a serious crash during training at the Red Bull Compound. Rebeaud suffered a spectacular fall while performing a big Underflip One Hand at the Red Bull Compound in California, a place the 2008 champion considers his "office".

First on the scene of the accident was legendary jump shaper Dane Heron who, luckily, is trained in first aid and was able to stabilise Rebeaud until the medical team arrived. Due to the severity of his injuries, Mat was immediately flown to nearby Valencia Hospital, where he was initially reported to be in a serious condition but conscious.

After a series of examinations, the doctors treating Rebeaud decided that the 28-year-old FMX pro should undergo an operation to treat a fractured arm and compressed lung.

Both operations went smoothly and Mat was feeling better and able to talk just days later. Once he is ready to fly, Rebeaud will leave the hospital to fly back to his native Switzerland for further examinations and begin the recovery process.

If everything goes to plan, Mat should be back for the traditional Red Bull X-Fighters event in Madrid in the summer.
