Superbike Daytona… The Lone Honda

TigerTeam CBR1000RR

AMA Pro Racing kicked-off its 2010 Superbike season at the legendary Daytona International Speedway on March 4-5. The American Superbike class saw double action with two races for the very first time in Daytona hisotry. The first 15-lap race took place on Thursday, March 4th and the second race was on Friday, March 5th giving fans two opportunities to see this exciting class.

With seven-time champion Mat Mladin’s retirement, the field is wide open. Josh Hayes, 2009 Daytona 200 Winner Ben Bostrom, AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike returnee John Hopkins, Aaron Yates, Tommy Hayden, 2006 Daytona 200 winner Jake Zemke and Geoff May are set to be the headliners of the AMA Pro American Superbike class this year.

Running a true privateer effort, TigerTeam Racing and their rider Jeffery Tigert gridded the only Honda CBR1000RR in the opening round of the 2010 AMA American Superbike Championship at Daytona.

Tigert and his team came back strong for race #2 after solving some electrical issues and recovering from a Turn One crash.

This rare footage of the endangered Honda Superbike soaring across the fabled asphalts of Daytona and the interview is an interesting view.

Tigert sits outside of the top 10 in the point standings after Daytona but looks to re-bound at the next round in Fontana California.
