2010 YZ450F Tech Video
Click video to see a brief technical overview of the new the 2010 Yamaha YZ450F. The new YZ450F features a revolutionary fuel injected, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, DOHC, rearward-slanting single cylinder engine that is fascinating to see. The rearward-slanted engine provides for straight intake and exhaust ports, to create a direct path for airflow into the fuel-injected engine and out the exhaust.
Yamaha’s Fuel Injection (FI) system was designed to provide for an optimal air / fuel mixture in most all altitudes and temperatures. The YZ450F FI system is battery-less and is powered by a 14 volt / 110W high output generator. The 44mm Keihin throttle body, with 12-hole injector, helps provide for superb fuel atomization.
The 2010 YZ450F also has a bigger 97.0mm bore and shorter 60.8mm stroke, along with a higher 12.5:1 compression ratio. The 4-titanium valve cylinder head with a "pent-roof" design provides efficiency. Exhaust gases exit via the new "tornado-style" exhaust header with resonator all claiming to be unequal power output.
The YZ450F also has an advanced Bilateral Beam aluminum frame with components distributed for mass-centralization and better handling. The high-capacity, long-stroke suspension system helps smooth over the bumps, while keeping you in contact with the surface. All and all it is quite an innovative motorcycle in a world very similar motocross bikes.
