2011 Dakar Rally Video
Stage 8 at the 2011 Dakar Rally tested the motorcycle riders’ abilities as they pummeled through desert from Antofagasta to Copiapo, 268 km of road, 508 km of timed special.
Taking the stage win was KTM 450 Rally rider Mar Coma; the win was the Spaniard’s third so far in the Dakar 2011.
On New Years Day the American Team of JCR Honda’s Quinn Cody and the 2011 Dakar Rally saw an emotional beginning when more than one million motorcycle race fans cheered for the 430 off-road racers as they headed of into the deserts of Argentina and Chile.

KTM factory riders Marc Coma and Cyril Despres continue to lead the overall standings in the 33rd edition of the Dakar Rally after an eventful day for both riders in Stage 5 that saw them up with the front runners, if not in the two top positions.
San Salvador de Jujuy to Calama
The Spaniard Marc Coma made it two in a row Wednesday at Stage 4 of the 2011 Dakar Rally in Argentina. Piloting a KTM 450 Rally into Chilean territory via the Andes Mountains, Coma finished before fellow KTM rider Cyril Despres.

Today, 2011 Dakar motorcycle riders will leave San Salvador de Jujuy in Argentina, travel through the notorious Paso de Jama pass in the Andes Mountain range, and finish at Calama in Chile.
While passing through Jama, riders will deal with oxygen-robbing 4800 m in altitude before entered Calama in the Atacama Desert, the world’s driest region.
