2011 World Superbike
Although the World Superbike Championship has been on break since the Silverstone round July 31, and won’t return until Sept. 4 at Nurburgring in Germany, the Castrol Honda team didn’t stop working. First it was some marketing in India, and now it’ll be some testing.
Starting this morning at Assen in the Netherlands, Castrol Honda will regroup for a two-day World Superbike test. Jonathan Rea, who has been recovering from a wrist injury, will participate at the test with the man who rode for hm at Brno and Silverstone, 20-year-old Alex Lowes.
Also at the test is Ruben Xaus, who is also recovering from injuries sustained in a crash at Brno. The Castrol-supported Hannspree Ten Kate Honda World Supersport team and its riders Fabien Foret and Florian Marino will also test at the Dutch circuit.
This testing period arrives after Rea and Lowes spent last week in Mumbai, India, “helping Castrol to re-launch its Power 1 brand to a market that is expected to produce 35 million new motorcycle customers over the next five years.”
Jonathan Rea (Castrol Honda CBR1000RR Superbike) says: “It was amazing to be part of the Castrol India re-launch of Power 1 last week. We took part in a couple of events with Bollywood star John Abraham, which was great, but seeing parts of Mumbai was also incredibly humbling.”
“Now it’s back to work, and I’ve been so excited about getting back on the bike again. My wrist has been feeling really good, but we’ll have to see how it stands up to the forces involved.”
