Kawasaki has revealed the 2027 KX327X cross-country racer alongside its motocross sibling, the KX327. The KX327X combines an all-new fuel-injected 327cc two-stroke engine with a chassis derived from the KX450F. The KX327X marks Kawasaki’s first newly developed two-stroke above 250cc in more than two decades. It will arrive at dealers late in 2026 priced at $9699.
- The liquid-cooled single is fed by direct fuel injection. This is the first fuel-injected two-stroke from Kawasaki. Kawasaki says the injection system maintains consistent fueling regardless of ambient temperature or altitude, contributing to easier starts and smoother throttle response. There’s no oil injection system, so owners will be brewing premix.
- The 2.2-gallon fuel tank is translucent. You’ll be able to eyeball the fuel level without unscrewing the gas cap. This tank has a higher capacity than the motocross bike.
- Electric start gets things going, and the KX327X works with Kawasaki’s Rideology The App KX2. A map switch on the left handlebar alternates between two ECU settings. Rideology The App KX2 connects to the KX327X via smartphone, giving the rider access to vehicle settings, riding logs, and maintenance reminders. We’re not seeing anything about traction control or a quickshifter.
- A new exhaust valve system broadens the powerband, with strong low-end torque suited to technical terrain and woods riding. Kawasaki describes the power delivery as flat and predictable from ultra-low to the midrange, allowing riders to maintain momentum through obstacles without constantly managing engine speed.
- The KX327X has a 6-speed transmission, compared to a 5-speed on the motocrosser. First gear is low, for slow, technical sections. This could make it a favorite of hard enduro enthusiasts. A hydraulic clutch has been deployed.
- The frame is an aluminum perimeter design adapted from the KX450F, built from forged, extruded, and cast sections. Kawasaki lists the KX327X at 233.7 pounds. Instead of saying wet or dry, Kawasaki describes the weight as “overall machine weight,” which hints that it’s a dry weight. We don’t have wheelbase, rake, or trail numbers.
- Suspension is KYB throughout. That’s a 48mm inverted AOS coil-spring fork and linkage-assisted shock, with both ends fully adjustable. Travel numbers have not been released.
- Nissin calipers work on petal discs. There’s a 270mm disc in front and 240mm rotor out back.
- The KX327X rolls on Dunlop Geomax AT82 rubber. As you’d expect, it has a 21-/18-inch wheelset.
- The ergonomics are adjustable. There are four handlebar mounting positions and two footpeg positions. The rider grasps ODI Lock-On grips.
- The off-road X will cost you $600 more than the motocrosser. You get to pay for the handguards, skid plate, linkage guard, rear disc guard, and sidestand.
- The $9699 price for the 2027 Kawasaki KX327X is aggressive compared to smaller-displacement 300-class electric-start two-stroke off-road racers. The carbureted 2026 Beta 300 RR Race had an MSRP of $11,590, and the fuel-injected 2027 KTM 300 XC has an $11,849 price tag. The 2026 Yamaha YZ250X is priced at $8199, though it lacks electric start and fuel injection.
