Following a few modest updates last year, the Honda Transalp gets major changes for just a $200 price increase, nudging the MSRP to $10,199. Meet the 2026 Honda Transalp E-Clutch, which features Honda’s impressive automatic clutch, fully adjustable suspension, and an aluminum skidplate.
- Since its debut on the CBR650R and CB650R, Honda has been pushing the E-Clutch hard. It is both a performance and convenience feature, as it works as a sophisticated quickshifter and enhances the ease of use. We have also tested the E-Clutch on the Rebel 300 and will soon check out its deployment on the CB750 Hornet.
- Without going into the technical details of the system, the E-Clutch’s function is easy to understand. It takes over clutch operation, so the rider never needs to touch the clutch lever. However, if the rider wants to manually operate the clutch, a tug on the left disables the automatic E-Clutch feature for up to five seconds. The six-speed transmission remains fully manual, which differentiates the E-Clutch from Honda’s fully automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT). If you’re looking for a technical explanation, we’ve got it.
- The 2026 Honda Transalp E-Clutch is equipped with a Showa Separate Function Fork-Cartridge inverted 43mm fork that has fully adjustable damping and spring preload. The fork is held in place by aluminum triple clamps — cast on top and forged on the bottom. Fork travel is unchanged at 7.9 inches.
- The Showa shock has a remote reservoir and is also fully adjustable. The linkage system and aluminum swingarm provide 7.5 inches of wheel travel, unchanged from the previous Transalp.
- A 2.5mm-thick aluminum skid plate protects the engine cases. Its implementation reduces ground clearance by 0.6 inches to 7.7 inches.
- The 2026 Honda Transalp E-Clutch weighs five pounds more than last year due to the changes, with a curb weight of 468 pounds when the 4.4-gallon fuel tank is filled. The color choices remain unchanged, with buyers choosing between White and Deep Pearl Gray. Look for the new Transalp at Honda dealers in July.
