2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy First Look: 34.6-inch Seat Height

The already-friendly Beta Xtrainer just got more approachable with the 2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy. Previously available as a special-order model from Beta at a correspondingly higher price, it is now a standard model with the same $8999 price tag as the standard Xtrainer. Let’s go over what turns the Xtrainer into a Lowboy and just how low it goes.

2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy First Look: Price

The 2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy has the same suspension as the standard Xtrainer but with shorter travel. The wheel travel monitored at both ends by the Ollé RC16V suspension drops from 10.6 inches on the standard Xtrainer to 9.4 inches on the Lowboy. Damping is fully adjustable.

2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy First Look: Shorter travel suspension

As the lowering is achieved through shorter suspension travel, the ergonomics remain untouched. The seat height (34.6 inches), footpeg height (14.2 inches), and ground clearance (11.4 inches) are all reduced by 1.2 inches, the same as the wheel travel. Beta doesn’t release rake and trail figures, so it remains to be seen if the geometry of the Lowboy differs from the standard Xtrainer. Weight is unchanged at 232 pounds with the 2.3-gallon fuel tank and 22-ounce oil injection tank filled.

The Lowboy gets several of the new features that the standard Xtrainer enjoys this year. The engine cases are new with a larger main bearing for increased durability. Beta raised 2nd gear to the RR X-Pro ratio spec. Also, you’ll be looking down at a new dash.

Here are the features we like on the standard model that are carried over to the 2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy:

  • The slightly oversquare 292cc two-stroke motor delivers highly manageable power that welcomes beginners and can satisfy experienced riders. Electric start and oil-injection make it all about the ride rather than unnecessary labor. Engine tuning flexibility includes an adjustable power valve and two power modes.
  • The ergonomics are compact without feeling cramped. Even larger new riders like the feeling of control the incrementally smaller chassis delivers.

  • Mitas Terra Force-EF tires are quality OE equipment. We have tested them across a broad range of trail-riding conditions, and they work well. If you have a favorite tire, it’s an easy swap out, or you can wait until the Mitas rubber is worn out.
  • Nissin calipers give the Xtrainer outstanding braking. As you’d expect, there’s a 260mm front disc and a 240mm platter on the rear hub. Steel-braided brake lines help give the rider outstanding feel.

The 2026 Beta Xtrainer Lowboy should be available at Beta dealers at any moment. In the meantime, you can read our review of last year’s Beta 250 Xtrainer.
