When Europe got the Honda XL750 Transalp last year, tongues immediately wagged regarding its release in the United States. Alas, the 2023 model year came and went without an American edition of the Transalp. However, hope springs eternal, and we introduce to you the 2024 Honda XL750 Transalp, which will hit dealer floors next month with an MSRP of $9999. Let’s start from scratch on this US version of this all-new-to-us mid-sized adventure motorcycle.
- The 2024 Honda XL750 Transalp gets a motor we haven’t seen in an American model. It’s an oversquare 755cc parallel-twin with a Unicam valvetrain and 270-degree firing order. A pair of 46mm throttle bodies are fed by downdraft intakes. The six-speed transmission is matched to a clutch with assist and slipper functions for ease of use and improved safety. A quickshifter is optional.
- The motor has four preset power modes, plus a personalizable User mode. The four preset modes—Sport, Standard, Rain, and Gravel—combine different levels of power output (four levels), traction/wheelie control (five levels), engine braking (three levels), and ABS (two levels). The User mode allows the rider to select any level within each of the four rider-aids, and adds the ability to defeat the rear-wheel ABS for off-road riding.
- The frame is 10 percent lighter than the Honda CB500X adventure bike. Honda accomplished this by reducing frame tube thickness. Despite that, Honda claims the 2024 XL750 Transalp has the rigidity needed for off-road riding.
- The 21-/18-inch wheel combo shows that Honda is serious about the Transalp’s off-road prowess. However, street-/touring-oriented Michelin Karoo Street adventure tires are mounted on the rim of the wire-spoke wheels. The front wheel gets a pair of 310mm wave discs with traditional two-piston calipers, while the rear has a 256mm disc with a single-piston caliper.
- The Showa suspension offers nearly eight inches of wheel travel at each end. The front end has a Separate Function Fork-Cartridge design in a 43mm inverted fork housing grasped by a cast-aluminum top triple-clamp and forged-aluminum bottom triple-clamp. The linkage-assisted shock is mated to an aluminum swingarm, and sports a remote reservoir. Both ends have no damping adjustments—only spring preload. Ground clearance is 8.3 inches.
- The 2024 Honda XL750 Transalp has a sophisticated electronics system. There’s a Controller Area Network (CAN) to keep data moving smoothly between components, along with the ECU (which Honda calls the Body Control Unit). A five-inch TFT display informs the rider. LEDs light the way.
- Honda has four accessory collections to modify the Transalp to each rider’s needs:Â

- Engine guard
