Following an nine-year hiatus in America, Suzuki’s true naked sportbike – the SV650 – returns as a 2017 model.
The SV650 debuted in 1999, and immediately won the respect of entry-level motorcyclist. The SV was perfect for urban situations as well as canyon carving, all with minimal maintenance and a bulletproof construction. These factors, along with being easy on tires, also led many track-day riders to the V-twin powered motorcycle. In 2000, Suzuki also imported the faired SV650S into America, which wasn’t as popular as the un-faired version.
In 2009, Suzuki replaced its true naked motorcycle with the faired SFV650 Galdius. The Gladius was not as well received as the original SV650, and many anticipated the SV’s return. Suzuki listened, and released a revamped 2017 SV650.
The Revised SV now features 60 new engine parts, along with 70 new chassis parts; all said, the bike is more powerful (expect about 75 horsepower), handles better and is 15 lbs lighter than the outgoing SFV650. Attached below is a photo gallery, exposing the true bare form of the iconic SV.
