Ducati North America has recalled 869 of its 2015-2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200 and 1200 S motorcycles due kickstand issues.

Ducati says the effected Multistrada motorcycles, manufactured from Dec. 1, 2014, through June 11, 2015, may have been built with a defective kickstand. The side stand may have been built with an incorrect length, and this can cause it to break. If the sidestand breaks, the Ducati Multistrada can fall over, increasing the risk of injury.

Ducati North America will notify owners, and dealers will replace the side-stand support tubes, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 16, 2015. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696. The recall number for this recall is RCL-15-003.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit www.safercar.gov.
