Marc Marquez On Board Misano Lap
Ahead of round 13 of the 2015 MotoGP Championship at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Repsol Honda has released a video of Marc Marquez lapping the Italian circuit.
The on board Misano video shows what the two-time reigning MotoGP Champion will experience for 28 laps during Sunday’s San Marino Grand Prix. And what better person to show lapping Misano? Marquez holds the fastest lap of the circuit with a 1:32.915, but unfortunately has never won at Misano in the premier class.
The 22-year-old Spaniard has tasted victory three times at Misano, but in other classes – once in the former 125cc class, and twice in Moto2.
Marquez enters 2015 Misano MotoGP 77 points behind the current leader, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi. Two week ago at Silverstone, Marquez was putting much pressure on Rossi, but crashed out, allowing Rossi to earn his fourth win of 2015 MotoGP and regain the points lead from teammate Jorge Lorenzo.
But Marquez has high hopes for Misano: “Obviously I’m disappointed to have crashed out of the race in the UK, but I was pushing and this can happen when the weather is like that. Of course the Championship is getting further away from us but we were back fighting at the front and this is definitely a positive. Now we head to Misano which is a pretty small and slow track.
“We were testing there before the Summer break so I hope the data from that test can help us with the setting this weekend. It’s a delicate balance getting the bike right to suit the demands on braking at this twisty track and let’s hope the weather is nice after last weekend!”
