2015 Zero Motorcycles Model Lineup
Zero Motorcycles has been a major player in the electric-motorcycle market since 2006, with technical, performance and aesthetic upgrades every year since.
In 2015, Zero has made a few major innovations across the four-model consumer lineup. All models now arrive standard with fully adjustable Showa front and rear suspension units and Bosch ABS. This makes the California-based company the first electric motorcycle manufacturer to offer ABS as standard equipment on all models.
Here’s a quick first look at the entire 2015 product line.
2015 Zero FX
The in-city riding range of the FX is 35 miles due to the smaller battery pack, which results in a weight of only 247 pounds for the standard ZF2.8 version. Take it on the freeway sparingly, as the ZF2.8 has a range of only 15 miles at 70 mph.
With long-travel Showa suspension—8.6 inches in the front and almost nine inches in the back and shod with Pirelli Scorpion MT 90 tires, the FX is equipped for both urban and off-road rides. With the premium accessory charger, a full recharge takes less than two hours.
2015 Zero FX Specs:
- Engine: Electric
- Battery: Lithium-ion
- Max Power: 27 hp @ 3700 rpm
- Max Torque: 70 ft/lbs
- Transmission: Clutchless direct drive

2015 Zero DS
With relatively long travel Showa suspension — seven inches at each end — and Pirelli MT-60 tires, the DS is ready to take on the dirt and the street. A claimed 68 ft/lbs of torque means it should easily climb any hills, as long as the traction is there.
The standard ZF9.4 version has a curb weight of 381 pounds and that weight goes up to 457 pounds when the maximum-range ZF12.5+Power Tank option is added. The Power Tank offers extended range, which is 170 miles per change in the city, compared with 104 miles for the ZF9.4 version.
2015 Zero DS Specs:

- Battery: Lithium-ion
- Max Power: 54 hp @ 4300 rpm
- Max Torque: 68 ft/lbs

2015 Zero S
The Zero S gets a number of upgrades for 2015, including Showa suspension, Bosch ABS and Pirelli Sport Demon tires.
While the standard ZF9.4 version has a range of 113 miles per change in the city, the S can be upgraded to a ZF12.5 battery pack that extends the range to over 150 miles (while adding 32 pounds to the bike), and the integrated Power Tank add-on boosts the city range to about 185 miles (or 94 miles at a steady 70 mph on the highway).
Top speed is a claimed 95 mph for the fully automatic single-speed transmission.

High-end features for the SR include Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tires, Showa suspension, Advanced Bosch ABS, and a 320mm front rotor mounted to an alloy rim. Riders requiring a longer range can add the Power Tank to the ZF12.5, bumping up the city range to 185 miles and the 70 mph constant highway range to nearly 100 miles.
