2012 AMA Motocross Video
For the seventh consecutive round, Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey piloted his SX-F 450 to the overall win, the Minnesota native’s latest feat arriving at the Moto-X 338 National in Southwick, Mass.
Dungey dominated the first moto, winning by a large margin over Motoconcepts Suzuki’s Mike Alessi and Honda’s Tommy Hahn.
In the second moto, though, Dungey suffered a slight crash, which later forced him to pit due to spilling some fuel. But Dungey would charge forward, apparently not affected by the wreck. But he couldn’t quite catch the moto’s winner, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Tyla Rattray.
Overall, though, Dungey earned the overall victory at round nine of 12. Joining Dungey on the overall podium was Alessi and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle, who finished 6-4.
Dungey now has an 85-point lead over Alessi, and could possible secure the title at the next round at Unadilla next weekend.
MX Sports says in the 250 Class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett made his return to the top step of the podium by stealing a second moto win away from Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen late in the running and securing the tiebreaker over GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac for the overall. Baggett also added to his championship lead with the victory.
The championship drama of the WMX Class continued to unfold as well. Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Ashley Fiolek prevailed for her third straight win, gaining even more ground on points leader, and Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki rider, Jessica Patterson in the standings and surpassing Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda’s Tarah Gieger. Now, with only one round remaining, a mere 10 points separates this familiar trio of riders, MX Sports says.
