Repsol Montesa’s Toni Bou began the 2012 FIM X-Trial World Championship in typical fashion – with a win.
The Spaniard began a duel with Gas-Gas rider Adam Raga, but it would be Bou whose clean performance on the wooden pallets that would put him ahead during the Strasbourg, France, round. Raga would finish second, with Sherco’s Albert Cabestany in third.
Attached above is a video highlighting the X-Trial at Strasbourg, France. The series now moves to Geneve, Switzerland, Saturday for Round 2 of 8.
Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa Trial) says: "Adam (Raga) put me under a lot of pressure in the first two sections of the semi-final and was riding well. When it is like this it is not good to be riding as the last rider as each time you must match him when he is riding in front of you. Then in the third section I made an incredible passage, and this gave me my first real advantage and also some increased confidence.
"In the end I was able to make a good level of victory over the other riders, so I can be happy tonight as it is the perfect way to start the new championship.
"This is just one victory and already next weekend in Geneva we will begin the battle again. Each time my goal is to win and that will be the case next Saturday too. From tonight I know what I must do to be on the top step again so I will continue to work hard this week."
