The 2024 Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is a bobber-styled twin that finds a spot between cruiser and sportbike. It uses the same engine as the INT 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650, with its own wheels, chassis dimensions, and riding position. Pricing starts at $6899.
The styling draws on the 1940s bobber movement, with cut fenders, a cantilevered solo seat, and a clean, minimalist design. Aluminum 18-/17-inch wheels, disc brakes, and an inverted fork add modernity, and the black exhaust ends in peashooter mufflers.
The 648cc air-cooled, fuel-injected SOHC twin makes 46 horsepower and delivers it smoothly and willingly. Ample torque makes it easy to move off idle, and the 6-speed transmission shifts faultlessly. There’s no tachometer, so the rev limiter is easy to find.
The riding position is upright and just shy of neutral, with footpegs neither forward nor back and a wide handlebar. The 31.3-inch seat is cut narrow at the front, which helps at stops. The 529-pound curb weight is noticeable coming off the kickstand, though the Shotgun carries it low and maneuvers easily in parking lots.
The Showa inverted fork has 4.7 inches of travel, and the twin shocks have 3.5 inches and five-way spring preload. That suits urban and suburban streets, though the suspension can’t absorb bumps in rough corners at higher speeds.
Ceat Zoom Cruz tires provide confident cornering, and the Shotgun holds its line on smooth sweepers. Bybre calipers work a 320mm front disc and 300mm rear disc, with two-channel ABS standard. The bike feels planted on the freeway, with minimal windblast.
Passenger footpegs are built in, and a pillion seat is optional. The barebones layout also makes the Shotgun an attractive platform for customizers.
Royal Enfield offers Stencil White, Plasma Blue, Green Drill, and Sheetmetal Gray, each with its own graphic treatment. The Shotgun 650 is a city cruiser, a casual commuter, and a relaxed companion for exploring neighborhoods off the main drag.
