Ducati’s Rossi & Hayden: Best 2011 Pics

2011 MotoGP Photos

The 2011 MotoGP Championship was clearly a struggle for the Ducati Team of Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden.

Nine-time World Champion Rossi finished seventh overall, tied with the late Marco Simoncelli at 139 points. VR46’s made it to the podium only once in 2011 at Le Mans, France. The 32-year-old Italian attributed most of his struggles to lack of front-end feeling.

With a finish of seventh, VR46 had his worse season since his 1996 debut in GP racing; that year, Rossi finished ninth while competing on an Aprilia 125cc. But from 1997-2010, Rossi finished third or better while ascending through the classes (125cc, 250cc, 500cc, MotoGP), including nine championships.

As for the “Kentucky Kid” Nicky Hayden, he finishes eighth in the 2011 MotoGP Championship, seven points behind his teammate. Hayden’s best finish of the season was also third, which arrived at a rain-soaked Jerez. Hayden also attributed lack of front-end feeling for his struggles.

Regardless of the season’s outcome, Hayden, Rossi and the Ducati desmos were crowd favorites throughout the 18-round championship, which is highlighted in the above photos; these pics also make for some great wallpaper.
