2011 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

The Legendary Buffalo Chip announced Monday that iconic Southern Rock pioneer Gregg Allman will do a longer performance in the headline slot at the Legendary Buffalo Chip on Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Allman’s performance will now include more songs from The Allman Brothers Band.

The Buffalo Chip made the announcement after it was informed Lynyrd Skynyrd would be unable to play as scheduled due to lead singer Johnny Van Zant’s hospitalization.

Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real will begin the show at 7:30 pm with Allman’s show starting at 10:30 p.m.

Van Zant was hospitalized with a severe staphylococcus infection and is currently undergoing treatment. Shows in Minnesota were canceled over the weekend, as was a show today in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The status of future scheduled performances is unknown. Everyone at the Buffalo Chip wishes him a speedy recovery and look forward to Buffalo Chip Skynyrd performances in the coming years.
