
2011 Red Crossing China
The Italian motorcycle manufacture Benelli has contributed to a major humanitarian initiative that is taking place in China, "Red Crossing China." The trip began in the city of Wenling on July 2, 2011.
On the occasion of the centenary of its birth (1911-2011), Benelli QJ, in collaboration with the non-profit organization "MotoforPeace" and Zhejiang Qianjiang Motorcycle and Co.LTD, has organized an event lasting nearly two months that will bring six Pesaro-built motorcycles ( TNT899 2, 2 TREK899, TREK1130 1, TREK AMAZONAS 1) and six DRAGON 150 (Zhejiang Qianjiang Motorcycle production) through the provinces of the great Asian country .
The project aims to raise funds for local Red Cross to assist the people of the Sichuan region of China that was hit hard by the earthquake disaster in 2008. The event will also provide the participation of 12 Policemen, (seven belonging to the Italian State Police, a soldier of the "Carabinieri," and four representatives of other European police forces).
The motorcycle tour of around 12,000 km across the most important provinces of China intends to contribute to the strengthening of international police cooperation relations between the Italy and Chini through the exchange of amenities and experiences with the local police and the prediction of institutional meetings with the Chinese police authorities along the route.
The initiative, which received the medal from the Italian President, enjoys the patronage of the highest Italian institutions such as the Presidency of Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, and the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior.
In the aftermath of the 40th anniversary of the definition of diplomatic relations between Italy and China, it’s particular both the interest of the Police Authority and Chinese government towards this important event. The operation during the same period in celebration of 150 years of unification of Italy, and to plan this humanitarian initiative in a historical context of great significance in terms of international cooperation between the two countries.
Many cities and tourist destinations such as West Lake, Zhangjiajie, Dujiangyan, Laoshan, Confucius Temple, the Terracotta Warriors, and Qingdao all will enjoy the taste of the exotic!
During the tour, meetings will be set up with the highest institutional authority of local police.
The return is foreseen in Shanghai on Aug. 16, 2011 after about 46 days of travelling.
A spokesman for the event says: "We are honored to welcome the "MotoforPeace" team to join us in raising funds to be donated to the Red Cross in support of survivors of Sichuan earthquake and to establish good relations between Chinese and Italian population, and moreover between police and government authorities , thus strengthening the cooperation between Italy and China."
