Japanese high-performance auto parts supplier PIAA has joined the sponsor list of 10-times World Endurance Champions Suzuki Endurance Racing Team.
PIAA produces a wide range of quality auto parts, but is particularly well known around the world for its high-performance spotlights, which are used by many leading race and rally car and motorcycle teams.
SERT will be carrying the PIAA logo aboard the team’s GSX-R1000 Suzuki at the third round of the World Endurance Championship, the Suzuka 8-Hour race in Japan, on July 31, where it aims to extend its series lead.
At the previous round (Albacete 8 Hour) SERT riders Vincent Philippe, Freddy Foray and Daisaku Sakai battled hard throughout the night session but couldn’t quite catch the leaders at the 2 a.m. finish, recording a total of 305 laps; just one behind BMW and Yamaha.
The team holds a two-point lead over BMW going into the third round of the series, the Suzuka 8-Hour race in Japan on July 31.
