2011 Isle of Man TT
Five-time 500cc MotoGP Champion Mick Doohan took a lap around the 2011 Isle of Man TT Mountain Course on Wednesday, riding a Honda CBR1000 Fireblade during the Arai Parade lap.
This video, shot by Alpinestars, shows Doohan talking about and IOMTT and lapping the famed 37.73 circuit.
Doohan was there for the Supersport 2 IOMTT Race, which was rescheduled to Thursday due to rain. He was also there to present the trophies to the IOMTT podium of Friday’s Senior TT race, which was won by John McGuinness on the Honda TT Legends CBR1000.
The Australian Doohan is one of the most successful racers in Grand Prix history, securing the 500cc World Championship in five consecutive years between 1994 and 1998. Only Giacomo Agostini with eight and Valentino Rossi with seven have scored more premier class world crowns.
Doohan, riding for Honda, dominated Grand Prix racing in the 1990s. Notably in 1997 he won 12 out of 15 races, finished second in two more and crashed out of the final event of the season while leading by more than six seconds.
