GL 1800 Gold Wing

The new Honda Gold Wing won’t arrive in Europe until 2012 as next year is the date chosen by Honda for the marketing of the revamped 2012 GL1800 model in Europe, the luxury touring bike that will be put on sale in the U.S. this May.

Long known as the Queen of the Road, the new 2012 Honda GL 1800 GoldWing motorcycle was presented to the world at the International Motorcycle Show held in Greenville, S., on Feb. 25-26, 2011.

And it is the American market that will get the exclusive sales rights to the revamped Gold Wing this May, 2011. The European version will not be available until next year according to sources at the Honda company.

The main novelties on this new Gold Wing motorcycle are the sleek new fairing and a carefully prepared set of equipment.

The Wing includes a revamped, novel GPS navigation system that is user friendly, one that can be connected to the internet so that routes can be shared with friends and other riders.

Another new feature on its equipment is the new audio system provides an incredible level of sound reproduction.

On a vehicle designed for long road trips it naturally has a powerful but gentle transmission system and a great level of handling.

It has a larger useful load and its suspension system has been improved so as to raise the motorcycle rider and passenger comfort to a level that has not been reached before.

An American Honda spokesperson informed Ultimate MotorCycling: "The Gold Wing now expands its reputation as the premier touring motorcycle in the world… and we’re equally excited about the additional new (U.S.) releases to follow later this year."

The second opportunity to view the new Honda Gold Wing will be at the is at the famous 2011 Daytona Bike Week held in Daytona Beach, Fl., March 5-12.
