E-Tracer 7009 Video
The X-Tracer 7009 is a high-performance pure battery-electrically driven low-drag motorcycle designed for the comfortable transportation for up to two persons with weekend baggage in a fully enclosed cabin.
This innovative tandem motorcycle uses an all-American powertrain composed of a 150 kW electric drive system made by AC Propulsion and a 19.4 kWh lithium polymer battery system from NeuEnergy in San Diego, Calif.
The E-Tracer Kelvar/carbon fiber monocoque chassis makes this a roomy motorcycle with as low of a weight as weight possible.
In order to further lower the E-Tracer drag, the electric motorcycle runs at highway speeds on a single track similar to a conventional motorcycle.
This keeps the aerodynamic drag at a minimum as the passenger is positioned in the slipstream of the driver, resulting in a drag reduction of 50% against side-by-side seating.
To stabilize the E-Tracer motorcycle at low speed and to keep it safe and stable on a slippery surface two springed and damped lateral stabilizer wheels automatically lower to the ground in less than 0.5 seconds.
These side wheels are retracted at higher speeds and if road surface conditions do allow. Even in the retracted mode the stabilizer wheels protrude the main body, so the electric motorcycle in all its normal and non-normal operation modes has two, three or four wheels on the ground.
It remains controllable at all times as long as there is enough traction between tire and road surface. The E-Tracer is claimed to be capable of 0-100mph is less than 20 seconds.
As in the video, the E-Tracer 7009 electric motorcycle was a finalist and a $2.5 Million Winner in the Progressive X-Prize in the Alternative Tandem Class.
