2011 AMA Supercross
The start of the 2011 AMA Supercross season, an FIM World Championship, is only weeks away.
American Honda Racing’s Trey Canard and Josh Grant are primed and ready to showcase their talents aboard Honda CRF450Rs at the opening round of the championship at Angel Stadium, Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday, Jan. 8.
After months of hard work and careful preparation aboard his Honda CRF450R, Canard is excited to get his first-full AMA Supercross season underway.
Trey Canard says: "I can’t wait to start racing Supercross. Switching from the Honda CRF250R to the CRF450R has been a relatively smooth transition and I’ve made it my focus to get in as much seat time on the bigger bike as possible over the past few months. Preparations are going according to plan and I’m ready to get the season started."
Grant will make his debut at Anaheim One and as he heads into the first race of the year, the talented racer is confident 2011 will be the definitive season in his career.
Josh Grant says: "The first race of the season is just around the corner and that moment can’t come fast enough. I really want 2011 to be that breakthrough year in my racing career and for that to happen I need to stay healthy and be there at the end of the season, when it counts the most."
Supercross Team Manager Erik Kehoe is pleased with how the team is shaping up for 2011, liking the early progress of Canard and Grant.
Erik Kehoe says: "Off-season testing is going really well and both Canard and Grant are feeling very confident aboard their 2011 race bikes. We know Canard has the ability to run up front on the 450-we saw that last season when he filled in on the team and finished on five consecutive Supercross podiums-now we’re keen to see what he can produce over 17 rounds of Supercross racing."
"Observing Grant aboard an American Honda Racing-prepared CRF450R over the past couple of months has been exciting to watch and we can’t wait to see what he will do in a few weeks’ time."
Over the years, American Honda Racing has enjoyed support from longstanding sponsors, and this year with Grant and Canard, they welcome those sponsors back as well as add two new sponsors to the team for 2011.
Erik Kehoe says: "We’re pleased to have the support of Fox Racing, Showa, Honda Pro Oils and Chemicals, Honda Riders Club of America (HRCA), Dunlop, Renthal, D.I.D, VP Racing Fuels, Twin Air, Yoshimura, Hinson Racing, Throttle Jockey and add Moto Tassinari and GEICO for this season."
