International Motorcycle Show
The 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden and 2009 World Superbike Champion Ben Spies appeared at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California.
Spies, a factory Yamaha MotoGP racer who take the seat of Valentino Rossi for the 2011 season and teammate of 2010 World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, accepted a Roland Sands-modified Yamaha YZ450F supermoto bike, presented by Sands and Bob Starr, Yamaha’s General Manager Communication.
Spies answered questions during a press conference, and expressed his goal of winning a MotoGP round in 2011.
Spies also noted that the factory Yamaha MotoGP bike he’ll be racing in 2011 is incrementally superior in every way to the satellite Yamaha he rode to MotoGP Rookie of the Year honors in 2010.
Ducati’s Nicky Hayden presented the new 2011 Ducati Diavel, pointed out that he had ridden one of the first version of the bike "about 10 feet."
He later admitted to during a burnout on the Diavel power cruiser.
Hayden returns to Ducati and MotoGP in 2011, with new Ducati teammate Valentino Rossi, winner of multiple MotoGP championships.
In 2010, Hayden finished seventh in the final standings, with one podium placing.
