Balkan Motorcycle Union: 10th Anniversary

Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, President of Youthstream, Mr. Jorge Viegas, FIM Deputy President, Mr. Vincenzo Mazzi, UEM President, and Mr. Wolfgang Srb, FIM / CMS Director, were invited as special guests to the 10th anniversary of the Balkan Motorcycle Union and the Balkan and Bulgarian Motorcycle Prize Giving Ceremony.

During their visit Mr. Luongo, Mr. Mazzi and Mr. Srb accompanied by Mr. Ruman Petkov, President of the Bulgarian Grand Prix Organizing Committee, and by Mr. Bogdan Nikolov, President of the BMF, visited the Bulgarian Minister of Sport, Mr. Svilen Neykov, who in a very good atmosphere congratulated Youthstream, FIM, UEM and the Bulgarian Organizing Committee for their great achievement with Motocross and SuperMoto and confirmed his support for the future Motocross and SuperMoto World and European Championships in Bulgaria.

During the Prize Giving Ceremony a special award was presented from the Balkan Motorcycle Union to Youthstream, Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, FIM, Mr. Jorges Viegas and Dr. Wolfgang Srb, and UEM, Mr. Vincenzo Mazzi for their support and promotion of the motorcycle sport in the Balkan.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Boykov Borisov, welcomed Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, Mr. Vincenzo Mazzi, Dr. Wolfgang Srb, Mr Ruman Petkov and Mr. Bogdan Nikolov to discuss about the future of the Motocross and SuperMoto Grand Prix events and the European Championship event in Bulgaria and he gave his full support to the Bulgarian Organizing Committee and Youthstream for the promotion of those events.

All together agreed to present the FIM Motocross World Championship with a big event on the Thursday before the Grand Prix of Bulgaria in the centre of Sofia, where the fans will have the possibility to "touch" the champions, bikes and all the main actors of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

During this visit Mr. Giuseppe Luongo and Dr. Wolfgang Srb offered to the Prime Minister, Mr. Boykov Borisov, the Award for the 2010 Best Motocross and SuperMoto Organizer, a recognition for the great support and co-operation of the Bulgarian Government.

Giuseppe Luongo says: "We have to thank the Prime Minister, Mr. Boykov Borisov, and all the Bulgarian Government for their great support and friendship they show towards our sport, and for sure Mr. Ruman Petkov and Bogdan Nikolov for their great job in organizing the best organized Motocross and SuperMoto Grand Prix in the world."

"Bulgaria today, with all its organization, which includes MX1 / MX2, MX3, Women Motocross, European EMX2, European 125, Motocross of European Nations, European 85cc and 65cc, and SuperMoto S1 and European Open, 450cc, 250cc and 85cc, is actually the country leading the world with the number of organization of Motocross and SuperMoto World and Continental Championships."

"If in every country we had such a great partnership with the government, federation and organizer, our sport today would be easily amongst the top 5 sports in the world."

Dr. Wolfgang Srb (Director of the FIM Motocross Commission) says: "A most successful and eventful year for the Bulgarian Motorcycle Federation under the leadership of the dynamic President Bogdan Nikolov is coming to a close."

"The Award Ceremony was a perfect occasion to pay tribute to all the Champions of the various disciplines. The meeting with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria was a perfect occasion to thank for the important support from the Government."
