As part of the promotional activities for this weekend’s penultimate round of the championship at Imola, a number of top World Superbike riders went for a special ‘test run’ at the Mirabilandia theme park.
The Formula 1 (F1) inspired iSpeed rollercoaster is one of the fastest in the world, with an acceleration rate of 0-100 km/h in 2.2 seconds.
After a welcome speech by the Director General of the Mirabilandia Park, Riccardo Capo and Paolo Ciabatti, SBK Director, Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia), Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox), James Toseland (Yamaha Sterilgarda), Troy Corser (BMW Motorrad), Jonathan Rea (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda), Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), Leon Haslam (Suzuki Alstare), Luca Scassa (Supersonic Ducati) all posed for photographs.
They sat in front of the iSpeed ride on their Superbike machines before completing a number of high-speed laps on board the rollercoaster. Many complained they have fear of rollercoasters. Whether joking or not, a few stomachs were turned.
