Isle of Man TT motorcycle racing star Dan Kneen is celebrating after scoring another short circuit victory in the British Supersport Cup competition. The 23-year-old took class honours during Sunday’s race at the Croft circuit.
The win has promoted the Manxman, whose travel to and from the Island is supported by the Isle of Man Steam Packet, to third in the Cup standings with just two rounds to go.
His motorcycle racing weekend got off to a difficult start when Kneen slid off in wet conditions during Friday’s practice, but he was back on form for qualifying, takin 18th in the Supersport field, and first in class. His performance saw him sitting on the grid just behind Karl Harris.
Sunday’s motorcycle race proved to be incident-packed, but Kneen kept out of trouble to move up to 14th overall and take his second Cup victory – the first coming at Thruxton back in April.
Dan Kneen says: "I was getting held up by Jamie Hamilton in 13th on the much faster Gearlink Kawasaki and was on the grass once trying to overtake him as I knew the other Cup riders were catching up and had a couple of other hairy moments during the race to maintain my position !"
Kneen, who thanked his backers Marks Bloom Racing, Slick Performance, Manx Gas, London Suzuki Centre and all his trade sponsors, now trails Cup leader Pat McDougall by only 13 points and there are still 50 points up for grabs.
