TERI has for the first time partnered with Moto Forza and NovaTac Racing, as well as AMA Road Racing’s all-time winningest rider Miguel Duhamel, in an effort to raise awareness of autism – which now affects at least one in 110 children in the United States.
“Racing sponsorship is certainly something new for us,” says Cheryl Kilmer, Founder and CEO of TERI Inc. “But we welcome the opportunity to educate a new audience on this rapidly growing disability, and hopefully become a resource for families facing the challenges of autism.”
This unique partnership was made possible through the innovative thinking of Mark Zimmerman, the father of one of TERI’s clients and fan of Ducati Motorcycles and AMA Road Racing, and Balz Renggli, owner of Moto Forza, Southern California’s Ducati Dealership.
The two saw the partnership as the perfect opportunity to introduce the racing world to TERI and the many programs and services it provides to children and adults with autism and other developmental and learning disabilities.
“We are very happy to have the opportunity to combine our passion for racing with TERI’s efforts,” says Renggli, owner of Moto Forza. “We applaud their openness to explore new avenues of communication to bring autism to the public’s eye, and to have Miguel Duhamel join us in that effort is simply phenomenal.”
Duhamel will return to the track and competitive road racing for this one-time event following a two-year hiatus. He will be racing on a Moto Forza prepared Ducati 1098R at the Laguna Seca round of the American Superbike series, held in conjunction with the MotoGP event on July 25, 2010.
Founded in 1980, TERI is a private, non-profit 501(C)(3)corporation dedicated to providing a wide range of services and programs to support individuals with ASD and other developmental and learning disabilities.
