The 2024 KTM 1390 Super Duke R Evo is the fourth generation of the hyper-naked known as The Beast. About 60% of the bike is new, with a larger V-twin, third-generation semi-active suspension, updated electronics, and fresh styling. The Evo is the only version sold in North America.
A 2mm bore increase takes the LC8 V-twin to 1350cc. A larger airbox, 60mm throttle bodies, and repositioned injectors feed it, and Cam Shift variable intake-valve timing pairs crushing low-end grunt with a searing top end. The engine is easygoing around town, and the valve-check interval doubles to 37,000 miles.
The 6-speed gearbox has shorter fifth and sixth gears and a self-bleeding hydraulic clutch. Brembo Stylema calipers clamp 320mm front discs, and Brembo MCS levers adjust for span and ratio. Cornering ABS has a Supermoto mode that disables rear ABS for trail braking.
WP Apex semi-active suspension offers Comfort, Street, Sport, Rain, and Auto damping modes, selected from the 5-inch TFT dash, along with shock spring-preload adjustment. Comfort absorbs rough city streets, and Sport firms the chassis for aggressive riding without harshness. Michelin Power GP tires and tire-pressure monitoring are standard.
Sport, Street, and Rain ride modes set throttle response, traction control, and wheelie control, guided by a six-axis IMU, and cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity are standard. The optional $1154 Tech Pack adds Track and Performance modes, Suspension Pro with auto-leveling preload and anti-dive, a quickshifter that works in both directions, engine-brake control, and launch control.
The riding position is comfortable for all-day use, with a natural reach to the tapered aluminum handlebar. Winglets reduce front-wheel lift and improve wind protection around the lower torso, the reshaped tank holds 4.6 gallons, and a lighter LED headlight sets the look.
KTM offers the 2024 1390 Super Duke R Evo in Orange or Black for $21,499. It is for experienced riders who want a hyper-naked that is as livable on the street as it is thrilling on a racetrack.
