2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer Buyer’s Guide [Specs, Price]

The 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer tops the Tiger 1200 range. It combines the Rally’s off-road equipment with the Explorer’s 7.9-gallon tank, good for about 320 miles at Triumph’s estimate of 40 mpg. It also carries more standard protection than any other Tiger 1200.

From the Rally side come side-laced wire-spoke wheels, an adjustable folding brake pedal, and the Off-road Pro riding mode, part of eight modes in all. The off-road modes can now be selected on the move. From the Explorer side come tire-pressure monitoring, lower engine bars, and a handlebar 0.4 inches higher and wider than the Pro models’ bar. The Rally Explorer is the only model that adds upper engine bars.

For 2027, every Tiger 1200 rides on 19-/17-inch wheels with 7.9 inches of travel, so the Rally Explorer no longer has the 21-inch front and extra travel of earlier Rallys. The Showa Heightflex semi-active suspension adds a new hydraulic secondary bump-stop for big hits, automatic preload, and Firm, Medium, and Soft damping settings on a dedicated button. It lowers the seat 1.2 inches at a stop, and Center Stand Assist eases the lift onto the stand, a real help at 591 pounds.

The technology is shared across the range. Bosch front and rear radar runs adaptive cruise control along with collision, blind-spot, and tailgater warnings. A 7-inch touchscreen brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and heated seats and grips are standard. Triumph rates the 1160cc T-plane triple at 156 horsepower and 96 lb-ft of torque, delivered through a 6-speed gearbox with a quickshifter and shaft final drive.

At $25,995, the Rally Explorer is the most expensive and heaviest Tiger 1200, 40 pounds heavier than the GT Pro. It’s the pick for riders who plan long trips that leave the pavement and want the most range and protection Triumph offers.
