Shaw Harley-Davidson Nascafe Racer: Bell & Ross Custom

Pro-street to its core, with its short suspension, clip-on bars, cupped seat, fairings, and racing wheels, the Shaw Harley-Davidson Nascafe Racer looks at point-to-point excursions with one thing in mind: time. So, it is no surprise that Shaw Harley-Davidson of East Sussex in southeast England partnered with master watchmakers Bell & Ross for this distinctive machine.

Shaw approached Bell & Ross with the idea of building a bike inspired by the watchmakers’ vision of performance, precision, and engineering, as well as tapping into the technical exactness required for premium timepieces.

“We wanted to mirror the Bell & Ross timepiece wherever we could on the motorcycle,” explains Steve Willis, Head of the Speed & Custom design wing of Shaw Harley-Davidson, “to ensure that the essence of the finished product was never compromised by superfluous design or extraneous items.”

“We were immediately excited by this project,” Bruno Belamich, Designer and Co-founder of Bell & Ross, added. “We identify with the values portrayed by Harley-Davidson, values that we share, such as the search for the extreme, adventure, and precision.”

The mounting of a BR 01 Carbon timepiece in a handcrafted, machined aluminum center console epitomizes Shaw’s merging of Harley-Davidson and Bell & Ross. “The watch mounting positioned the timepiece in the ideal place for its function as a professional tool for the rider,” according to a Bell & Ross spokesman. “A combination of anodized blue, carbon, and stealth-like matte black custom paint was used on the bike to reflect the design of the timepiece.”

Derived from a Softail Night Train, the Nascafe Racer pays tribute to the spirit of Bell & Ross, a company with the motto: “The essential is never compromised by the superfluous.”

Shaw Harley-Davidson also trades as Shaw Speed & Custom. Bell & Ross was founded in 1994 by Carlos A. Rosillo and Bruno Belamich. The iconic French watch company is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
