2017 Suzuki SV650 ABS | Motorcycle Buyer’s Guide
The 650cc V-twin sportbike has been a mainstay of the Suzuki lineup since 1999. Constantly evolving, the form has now returned to its roots and is designated the SV650 again.
Despite that, the SV650 ABS is fully revised for 2016 and a considerably different motorcycle than the SFV650 it replaces. Both the motor and the chassis have been improved, thank to 140 new parts and components, with one result being a bike that weighs 15 pounds less than before.
To appeal to less experienced riders, the 2016 Suzuki SV650 ABS features Low RPM Assist, to help get the bike going from a start, and a low seat height. Power is certainly respectable at 76 horses, and the torque peak is just 400 rpm below the top horsepower spot on the powerband. Dual spark technology and Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve contribute to smooth running.
