2013 Goodwill Festival of SpeedMany racing celebrities were present at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which took place in West Sussex in the UK last weekend.
Included in this roster of riders was the 1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz, who was reunited with the same bike that made him a champion – the Suzuki RGV500.The 48-year-old American donned his famed leathers as he took to the saddle of his #34 Lucky Strike Suzuki before a crowd of about 150,000 spectators.Schwantz and his long-standing Grand Prix Team Manager Garry Taylor will travel to Japan the end of this month as Schwantz makes his return to racing. Schwantz will ride in the World Endurance Championship alongside Yukio Kagayama and Noriyuki Haga aboard a Suzuki GSX-R1000.Speaking of the race, Suzuki says: “Schwantz and ‘Team Kagayama’ enter the 2013 Coca-Cola Zero Suzuka 8 Hours on July 28 – the biggest and most-prestigious motorcycle race on Japan’s motorcycle racing calendar – as one of three major Suzuki contenders for the race victory alongside the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team and also reigning World Champions, the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT).”Schwantz is pictured above with Phoebe Taylor, daughter of Suzuki Grand Prix Manager Garry Taylor.
