Steve McQueen’s 1970 Husvarna 400 Cross on the Block
A 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross owned by legendary film star Steve McQueen, famed for “On Any Sunday,” will be offered for sale at the third annual Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Sale at Bally’s Hotel & Casino on Thursday, Jan. 10.
McQueen first became associated with Triumph in the 1960s through his best friend Bud Ekins, but when the lightweight, powerful and nimble Swedish-made Husqvarna was introduced to America in 1970 it quickly became his preferred mount. Subsequently it was this marque of motorcycle McQueen rode on numerous, highly-publicised occasions.
Bonhams is to offer for sale the genuine 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross owned and ridden by the Hollywood icon, together with a large number of documents supporting its provenance and authenticity.
The McQueen Husqvarna joins an impressive line-up of machines already consigned for the sale, including the original condition 1902 Rambler from the Indian Motorcycle Museum and a quartet of BMW racing motorcycles that features the very rare and desirable Kompressor.
