2012 AMA Supercross
Following a year of AMA Supercross/Motocross injuries, including a broken femur, Trey Canard was fully-prepped for the 2012 season, ready to compete with the likes of Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey.
But weeks before the 2012 AMA Supercross season opener in Anaheim, Canard had another setback – the Oklahoma native who pilots the #41 Muscle Milk American Honda CRF450R broke his shoulder.
Due to recovery, Canard missed Anaheim, and was questionable for Phoenix Supercross. But he returned at Chase Field in Phoenix, the still-recovering SX rider finishing seventh in both his heat and the final.
Trey Canard (Muscle Milk American Honda CRF450R Supercross) says: “I am excited to be here, and I’m excited to be riding,” said Canard. “It is a bummer for me because I am not right up with the guys that I normally compete with, but overall it was a very successful weekend.”
As for his 2011 injuries, Canard fractured his femur while training towards the end of the 2011 AMA SX Championship; although he was forced to miss the final three rounds, he still finished fifth with 255 points.
Canard was then forced to miss the first half of 2011 AMA MX due to the injury, but returned at Round 7 in Spring Creek to finish third. But misery followed Canard at Round 8 in Washougal, where he re-broke his femur, forcing him out of the remaining races.
