2010 Baja 1000
Fluidyne Powersports is proud to be part of the Arctic Cat factory-sponsored racing team that conquered the 2010 SCORE International Baja 1000.
Congratulations are in order for Fines Double Racing’s team captain Reid Rutherford, veteran racers Tony Valerio and Benn Vernadakis, and newcomer Agustin Maduena, who finished the 1062-mile race in 39 hours and 25 minutes, beating their closest competitor by four hours.
With this win, the defending SCORE Class 26 (Limited, Utility) champions’ 950cc Arctic Cat Thundercat V-Twin finished its 17th long-distance race in a row.
This year’s grueling run took place over the length of Baja’s primitive, ever-changing landscape. With entries from 37 U.S. states and 18 other countries, the race started in Ensenada, crossed the peninsula twice and ended in La Paz, for a total of 1062 miles.
Rutherford has been astounded with the performance and durability of FLUIDYNE® Powersports radiator his quad has been using: "When SCORE does full-Peninsula runs, the 1000 course gets real fast," he says.
"Belt-driven quads like ours don’t like these conditions because they get running really hot. With Fluidyne’s radiator, this wasn’t a problem. And it’s super reliable. Over the past three seasons, we’ve put more than 6000 race miles on these units without any problems."
In addition to keeping their cool in the wilds of Baja, Fluidyne radiators are also built more rugged to fend off damage. Constructed from aircraft-quality aluminum, structural highlights include thicker materials throughout, a CNC-machined billet filler neck, beaded hose connections for leak-proof sealing and a stainless-steel radiator caps.
These components are held together with substantial TIG welds to withstand extreme conditions and produce a crash survival rate far exceeding the OEM parts.
Not only do Fluidyne radiators out-cool and outlast the stock units, they’re generally less expensive, come with a one-year warranty and install easily, utilizing the factory mounts and hardware.
Multi-time winners in the SCORE and Best in the Desert series, Fluidyne Powersports radiators have been proven around the world. Developed and manufactured in the United States, they are built upon 50 years of experience in vehicular fluid dynamics.
Available for nearly 100 ATVs, motorcycles and side-by-side vehicles, Fluidyne Powersports radiators are also available for custom applications such as this race-winning dirt tracker.
Distributed by Parts Unlimited, Tucker-Rocky, WPS, KK Motorcycle Supply, MTA, Southern Motorcycle Supply, CV-4 and IMS Products- Fluidyne Powersports radiators are readily available through thousands of dealers nationwide.
