Alpinestars Tech Touring: Durban

Gore-Tex Apparel

As the sport of motorcycle touring expands, Alpinestars is focusing on providing high-end apparel for the all-weather tourer. Leading the way for the 2011 Tech Touring line are the all-new Durban Gore-Tex Pants and Jacket.

The Durban Gore-Tex Jacket uses a removable Paclite Gore‐Tex membrane designed to keep the rider warm and dry, while CE certified armor and welded, ceramic-coated Superfabric-reinforced materials offer sprotection on- and off-road.

The multifabric shell uses lightweight polyamide as the main construction with protective polyamide inserts and is designed to give the optimal combination of durability, protection and weight.

An ultra‐lightweight, removable Paclite Gore‐Tex membrane with micro‐fleece insert keeps the rider warm and dry in all conditions. Integrated high visibility reflective stripes improve rider visibility in poor light conditions.

To make sure the Durban Gore-Tex Jacket fits and is comfortable, there are zippered air intakes and rear air exhausts on the sleeves, chest and shoulders improve ventilation while riding, articulated elbow construction to improve fit and arm flexibility, detachable sleeves to allow the jacket to be worn as a vest in warm conditions and two waterproof external pockets on front of jacket keep your cargo dry.

Also, multiple fit and volume adjustment allows a tailored fit around the arm, a handy removable rear large utility pocket, internal waist connection zipper for attachment to a wide range of Alpinestars riding pants (including the Durban Pants), Bionic Neck Support (BNS) connection system, and a two-quart Bladder storage pocket (capacity reduced to two pints when used with BNS).

Alpinestars Durban Gore-Tex Pants is designed to complement the Jacket. It features Alpinestars’ patented Vector knee construction and a Paclite Gore‐Tex membrane. A removable bib and braces fitment option, along with integrated ventilation, further enhance the pants’ appeal to the adventure rider.

Like the Jacket, the Durban Pant uses a multifabric shell construction, which is a blend of fabrics that is designed to provide the most favorable combination of durability, protection and weight.

The main construction is lightweight polyamide, with protective polyamide inserts. A robust, medial lower end leather panel gives extra abrasion resistance. The knee protectors are CE-certified, lightweight and removable and high visibility reflective stripes integrated in the design.

A lightweight, removable Paclite Gore‐Tex membrane with micro‐fleece insert provides waterproofing and allows the garment to breathe, while an articulated rear panel for gives extra support and ease of movement. In hot weather, an extended air intake located on knee panel helps keep the pant well ventilated.

There are two external 100% waterproof pockets on the side of the pant, an internal waist connection zipper for attaching to riding jackets, a removable bib and braces to give the rider the option of an extra secure form of fitment, and the Durban pant is designed to accommodate the fitment of Enduro/MX, Adventure and Touring style riding boots.
