FMX News

Russian FMX rider Alexey Kolesnikov recently made history at his FMX training compound in Kolomna (RUS) by became the first freestyle motocross athlete in history to jump a bike over a flying truck.

The jump was taken at Kolesniokov`s home training base in Kolomna with 2 perpendicular ramps for a cross jump of the both vehicles.

It took 10 days to get prepared to the project. The ramp for the 8,5 tons KAMAZ truck was formed out of 500 tons of dirt.

The height of the ramp was 2.5 meters, the gap from the separation point to the landing – 12 meters, which corresponds to a height of four-store house, and KAMAZ speed right before the jump was 60 km/hour.

Despite strong winds, Kolesnikov threw several different tricks over 9-ton truck driven by 2010 Dakar Rally winner Vladimir Chagin (RUS), including a huge backflip off the 2.75-metre kicker.

Kolesnikov’s next stop was the third round of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010 on Moscow’s famous Red Square on 26 June, where the best freestyle motocross riders on the planet went go head-to-head in front of a huge crowd.

Alex Kolesnikov and his KTM SX250 finished the event in second to last with 10 points. Click here to see the FMX KAMAZ Truck Jump.
