Biaggi Sets Miller Superbike Track Record

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) laid down the gauntlet to the rest after posting a new track best lap of 1’48.155 in the second qualifying session.

Yesterday’s fastest rider Jakub Smrz (Pata B&G Ducati) improved his personal best time for second today, 0.174 seconds from Biaggi and just ahead of the BMW of Troy Corser.

Althea Ducati’s Carlos Checa was fourth, with the leading four all within 0.243 seconds of each other. Checa’s team-mate Shane Byrne was fifth, Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) sixth.

Cal Crutchlow went seventh fastest for Yamaha Sterilgarda while the first rider to qualify based on his Friday time was Leon Haslam (Alstare Suzuki), eighth after combined qualifying.
