Motorcyclist John Kiefer of Williamsburg, Va., has been biking for more than 35 years, but thanks to Progressive, is receiving his first new bike ever at the Republic of Texas Bike Rally – and it’s worth $30,000! The custom-built bike Kiefer won in a random sweepstakes drawing was the prototype for the Sucker Punch Sally’s (SPS) "Swinger" production model.
The bike is a classic bobber with a twist-it has a swing-arm suspension on the rear end with exposed adjustable shocks that provide a smoother ride than a traditional stripped-down bike.
Progressive, the #1 motorcycle insurer in the country and official insurer of SPS, commissioned the bike with the goal of educating riders about the need to have Comprehensive and Collision insurance coverages that adequately protect custom bikes. Progressive is one of the few insurance companies to insure custom bikes, and offers $3,000 worth of custom accessories coverage at no extra charge and covers customizations up to $30,000 in most states.
Kiefer’s prize is a 50’s style bike with a stunning custom paint job featuring yet-to-be-released blue and caramel colors from House of Kolor, with metal flakes making the paint glisten in the sun. Hand-turned brass controls and a memory foam seat round out the unique features of this beautiful bike.
Progressive Insurance and Sucker Punch Sally’s will award the bike to Kiefer at the Republic of Texas Rally in Austin, Texas, on June 11. John will then ride his new bike in the rally’s kick-off parade.
