Besides not having any experience with the spec Michelin tires or Magneti Marelli ECUs at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, the 21-rider grid was greeted with inclement weather conditions in Argentina. Due to the issues associated with the weather, only 13 riders finished the race.
Since the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit joined the MotoGP Championship in 2014, only one rider has earned the pole – Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez. And the Spaniard once again completed this feat Saturday for round two of the 2016 MotoGP Championship in Argentina.
The second round of the 2016 MotoGP Championship throttled into action Friday with the first of two free practices at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit in Argentina. This is the third year MotoGP raced at the South American circuit, and many challenges lay ahead due to some significant changes.
