Ducati Recalls 2012 Monster, Hypermotard

2012 Ducati Motorcycle Recall

Ducati has recalled select model 2011 and 2012 Hypermotard and Monster motorcycles due to possible cracks in the fuel lines.

The following models are listed in the recall:

  • 2011 Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP
  • 2012 Hypermotard 1100 EVO
  • 2012 Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP C
  • 2012 Hypermotard 796
  • 2012 Monster 1100 EVO
  • 2012 Monster 796
  • 2012 Monster 696

The Italian manufacturer says the recall affects 913 motorcycles, which were manufactured from June 25, 2011, through Nov. 30, 2011. The recall says that fuel lines contain micro-cracking due to insufficient drying of raw materials. This could cause a fuel leak, which can increase the risk of a fire.

Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel lines free of charge. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696, or visit ducati.com.

The safety-recall number is RCL-12-001; customers may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.org.
