2027 Suzuki RM-Z250 Buyer’s Guide [Specs, Price]

The 2027 Suzuki RM-Z250 is a 250cc four-stroke motocross machine, and Suzuki describes it as one of the best-handling motorcycles in motocross. For 2027, Suzuki updated the suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust, and ergonomics, refining the existing package rather than replacing it.

The KYB coil-spring fork and shock carry new settings for 2027, intended to improve suspension response. Both ends keep fully adjustable damping, and the shock adds spring-preload adjustment, so riders can set up the bike for their weight, skill, and track. Both fork legs now use the same springs and damping components.

The wheels are new, built with Excel rims that are known for durability and that Suzuki says enhance handling. They come fitted with new race-developed Dunlop Geomax MX34 tires.

A new multi-layer muffler is designed for reliable performance and complies with the 2026 AMA and FIM sound regulations.

The 249cc engine is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single with dual injectors. For 2027, the subframe rails were moved inward and raised to make room for a larger air cleaner.

The riding position has been revised as well. Compared with the prior generation, the footpegs are slightly farther forward and higher, and the handlebar grips are slightly farther forward and lower. Suzuki says the 2027 changes add refinement for riders seeking performance and confidence on the track.

Riders also get launch and tuning tools. Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control is a selectable launch system for race starts, and the MX-Tuner 4.0 smartphone app changes fuel and ignition settings. Fuel couplers are also included for quick tuning changes.

The RM-Z250 suits riders racing in the 250 class, as well as track riders who want a lighter-displacement motocrosser with adjustable suspension. It is a closed-course competition motorcycle, not a trail or street bike, and it starts by kickstarter only.
