BMW’s TT RECORD

BMW’s history on the Mountain Course begins in 1939, when Georg Meier won the Senior TT aboard the BMW RS 255 Kompressor, a supercharged boxer twin. It was the first time a foreign rider on a foreign machine had won the Senior TT.

The next major BMW result came 37 years later. In 1976, Helmut Dähne and co-rider Hans-Otto Butenuth won the 1000cc Production class on a BMW R 90 S.

The modern chapter began in 2014, when Michael Dunlop put the S 1000 RR back on top in the 1000cc class. Peter Hickman then built the most dominant stretch of BMW TT success in the modern era.

In 2022, Hickman swept the Superbike, Superstock, and Senior TT races on various flavors of the M 1000 RR. A year later, Hickman set the outright TT Mountain Course lap record: 16 minutes, 36.115 seconds, for an average speed of 136.358 mph, riding an M 1000 RR in Superstock trim. That record still stands.

Last year, Davey Todd won the Superbike class on the M 1000 RR and added strong results across the 1000cc classes.
