Kid Rock Concept Polaris Slingshot
Motor City rocker Kid Rock is the inspiration for what may be the most over-the-top custom Polaris Slingshot yet. First shown at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas earlier this month, the SS-R concept has more than custom-made carbon fiber body parts and fancy paint.
Under those custom-painted carbon fiber body panels with hydrographic carbon fiber body trim lies a 2.4 liter standard issue E-tec engine that has been tuned and turbocharged to produce 400 horsepower. The turbo is intercooled, and the SS-R concept arrives with a custom high-performance exhaust system. That should put the Slingshot’s traction control system to the test.
Built by Bob Fehan Motorsports, the Kid Rock concept is fitted with a carbon fiber wing spoiler astern, custom lighting elements, racing seats with custom-embroidered “Kid Rock SS-R” logos, flat-bottom steering wheel, racing pedals and short-throw shifter on the standard five-speed transmission.
Chassis upgrades include high-performance racing wheels and tires, three-way-adjustable road-race shocks, billet aluminum rear shock mount, road-race stabilizer bar, bushings, adjustable links and brake master cylinder support brace and cross-drilled high-performance brake rotors with composite pads.
The Kid Rock Slingshot’s body and cockpit details include a polycarbonate hard-coated windshield, racing safety belts, soft doors, auxiliary turbo boost and oil pressure gauges, accented gauge bezels, a rearview mirror with integrated navigation display and display for an in-vehicle video system.
