Vespa has released the 946 Horse, the latest addition to its Lunar Collection. This numbered, limited-edition scooter marks the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac. It follows the Dragon and Snake models in the series, which also draw on zodiac themes. Not simply aimed at the scooter faithful, the 2026 Vespa 946 Horse is intended to bring in fans of equestrian, zodiac, and Chinese cultures.
The 946 Horse uses a deep brown color known as bay and aims to mimic a horse’s coat, mixing matte and gloss surfaces for contrast and tactile variety. Gold accents stand out, including a V monogram set inside a horseshoe emblem under the saddle and on the front brake caliper guide pins.
The handcrafted Italian leather seat is intended to resemble a horse saddle. Leather pieces also cover the handlebar and rear-view mirrors, adding to the scooter’s style.
The 2026 Vespa 946 Horse is purely a styling exercise, with no changes to the base 946. That means you get a scooter with a 155cc fuel-injected, forced-air-cooled, three-valve motor with electric starting. Suspension is handled by a single-arm/single-shock front suspension setup, plus a single spring-preload adjustable shock in the rear. The braking system has a 220mm disc on each 12-inch wheel and dual-channel ABS.
As is often the case with Vespa scooters, buyers can add matching accessories to the 946 Horse. An Italian-made rear bag that mounts on the rear-fender rack uses the same leather as the saddle and is functional for storage. A short windshield with aluminum hardware is another functional accessory.
