The Pirelli Sport Demon tire is a multi-radius profile for touring motorcycles. Pirelli says the tire’s “X-ply” design is responsible for the Sport Demon’s excellent traction on wet or dry road surfaces and long mileage wear. The Sport Demon tires are available in a broad range of diameters, widths, and profile heights.
This review began with the Pirelli tires being professionally mounted and balanced. There were 7,012 miles on the Triumph Bonneville T214’s odometer at the start of the test and 11,719 miles at the conclusion.
The X-ply hull of the Pirelli Sport Demon tires has provided a quiet, vibration-free, stable ride across a range of road surfaces. The hull tread area and sidewall stiffness deliver excellent cornering feedback and straight-line stability. The carcass absorbed some serious shots from potholes in blacktop and concrete road surfaces without developing any evidence of ply separation blistering or tread surface breakdown.

Cornering and braking traction have been excellent in both wet and dry conditions, even though the Bonneville does not have ABS brakes. The tread pattern in the single-compound rubber with a zig-zag rain groove and generous side-to-side sipe pattern has provided sure-footed wet pavement traction.
The Pirelli Sport Demon tires experienced typical of normal day-to-day operation. There were no extreme riding, burnouts, or track days. Inflation pressures were maintained in specification throughout. The vast majority of miles ridden were on paved roads of varying surface types and conditions, though some miles of gravel surfaces were encountered. Limited riding was done at Interstate speed.

After 4,707 miles, the Sport Demons required replacement, as the rear tire’s tread pattern and rain groove had been worn away. I discovered this firsthand when I skidded the rear tire on wet pavement. The front tire still had a functional rain groove in the center of the tread, but it will be replaced at the same time as the rear tire.
The Pirelli Sport Demon tires are excellent all-round for motorcycles such as the Triumph Bonneville T214. Pirelli does not claim expected service-life mileage in everyday use for the Sport Demon model. With the tires having been in service just over 4,700 miles with no problems, they had an average service life based on my experience with single-compound road tires.
