One of the most anticipated motorcycles in Husqvarna’s 2012 lineup is its first street motorcycle – the Nuda 900 and Nuda 900 R.

And some Aussie journalists were out testing the machines recently, taking the Nuda motorcycles on a 186-mile trek through the Hinterland of Surfer’s Paradise. Check the video above for some highlights of the Australian Nuda launch.

The BMW-owned company says the Nuda is a “crossover” motorcycle, sharing the sytle of both a naked bike and a supermoto.

Besides the fresh look and agile suspension featuring Sachs and Ohlins components, the Nuda 900 and 900 R feature a motor based on the technologically-savvy BMW F 800 R motor.

Husqvarna says: “Designed to reflect Husqvarna’s sporting pedigree, this new configuration not only delivers a more aggressive racing feel and sound at maximum performance, it also vastly improves the power and torque characteristics of the engine, not to forget the higher capacity of 900cc Husqvarna has increased the power (100 hp) and torque (73 ft.lbs), while managing to retain the linear, fluid nature of the power delivery at small throttle openings and low revs.”

And of course, the Nuda’s motor features what Husky is known for – red rocker-box covers.
