Dungey: San Diego SX Wrap & Wallpaper

2012 AMA Supercross

For the fifth time out of six rounds in the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship, Ryan Dungey piloted the Red Bull KTM SX-F 450 to a podium finish.

This feat arrived at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego Saturday evening after the 2010 AMA SX Champion finished third behind Two-Two Motorsports Honda’s Chad Reed and race-winner, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto.

After his heat race was red-flagged, Dungey finished third. In the main event, he struggled in the rhythm section, pushing him back to fifth. He then battled his way past JGRMX Yamaha’s James Stewart, who crashed in the whoops, and Yoshimura Suzuki’s Brett Metcalfe to take third.

Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM SX-F 450 Supercross) says: “I struggled a little bit tonight in some sections and it held me back from fighting for the top spot. Overall, I am glad I was able to get on the podium and salvage some points but I need to battle for the win to help my fight in the championship chase. I am looking forward to heading east and hoping to run up front next weekend.”

After six of 17 rounds, Dungey is now third, trailing the current Supercross leader Villopoto by 10 points.
